Lea is looking for female friends, and 25 people have replied
Lea is 23; she grew up in Zurich and returned there after completing her studies and spending time abroad learning languages. Her family is there, as is her boyfriend. What she’s missing are female friends she can meet up with on the spur of the moment for a coffee. That’s why she asked on Reddit whether other women her age feel the same way.
Around 25 people got in touch. This shows just how many people are looking for the same thing but rarely talk about it. However, the article also explains what happened next: some of the conversations petered out after just a few messages. Lea met up with one woman, and the two of them have already arranged something new.
It is precisely this down-to-earth aspect that we find most interesting. As long as you’re at university or in training, opportunities to meet people arise naturally. After that, you have to seek them out, and that takes courage, especially if you’re the reserved type. Sending a message is easy. The second step is harder: keeping at it, suggesting a meet-up, giving it another go.
Romera can’t take this second step off anyone’s hands. However, it can provide an opportunity to simply talk to one another first, without having to expect a friendship straight away.
What about you?
As an adult, when was the last time you let someone new into your life?
